English Elm Native Yamadori Bonsai Tree

Ulmus procera. Much sought after and one of the U.Ks finest deciduous species for bonsai the English elm is a great and rewarding tree to grow as bonsai. (see Colin Lewis's book The Art of Bonsai Design).

Procera is fully hardy in all parts of the U.K and grows vigorously thus allowing fast development. For young trees in the early stages of development it is best to re-pot every year into akadama. This will keep the trees vigour high. Mature trees can be left two or three years between re-potting. Autumn will see the tree put on a splendid display of yellow colour before leaf drop.

Graham collected this tree several years ago from an abandoned sand quarry in south Norfolk. It was growing around the perimiter where the bank was slowly disappearing into the hole and taking trees with it. Since collecting Graham has grown a nicely tapering leader and put basic branching in place. Well settled and with an insanely dense root system this is a great value tree styled unlike any other we have seen. English elm are insanely popular and this one won't hang around long so grab it whilst you still can!

25" tall above it's pot. 28" wide overall. 10" across the root flare.

Planted in a plastic bonsai training pot.
