If you are over a certain age this might not be the tree for you, this is going to be along term project. Graham does some daft stuff on occasions..... like this one. However we need the space so this one needs to go.
This the very beginning of a korabuki or turtle back style of bonsai where all the multiple trunks emerge from a single base. All of exactly the same age and from the same parent, the fine white roots of these young trees will eventually fuse together and lignify. This will happen fastest if planted in the ground though the tree will be hard to contain. Failing that use a large deep flower pot and unsure copious watering and fertilising throughout the growing season.
