We believe this to be Gardenia augusta Radicans which is a dwarf form of this incredibly broad genus of 200 or more species mainly from Asia or Southern Africa. It has deep green narrow leaves and highly fragrant cream flowers. Gardenia should be overwintered in a cold greenhouse or unheated conservatory but can be outside in milder areas. Gardenia likes a well ventilated bright and humid situation in order to thrive. Keep gardenias well watered and fertilise regularly when in active growth.
Graham has had this little stunner in his collection for some time now but is beginning to thin out somewhat. A beautiful mature Japanese bonsai and the very best quality gardenia we have seen in the Uk since we started 30 years ago. An impressive and imposing bonsai tree imported from Japan.
19" tall from the top of it's bonsai pot. 21" wide overall. 5" diameter nebari.
Planted in a very nice glazed Tokoname stoneware bonsai pot.
