Yamadori English Oak Bonsai Material
Everyone seems to want one of these in their collection. There is a certain romantic image attached to English Oak. It is a fine tree to cultivate as bonsai. It is tolerant of most conditions but does like full sun when in leaf. Don't re-pot too often and once the tree develops some ramification the leaves will reduce very well. Winter wash in February with a tar wash or dilute lime sulphur to avoid pest problems in summer.
Collected in Italy and now growing very well after several years in it's pot, this oak has great potential with it's amazing craggy hollow trunk. This variety from Italy has superb leaf shape definition, more consistent than it's northern grown cousins. The tree has outstanding bark quality with a superb trunk movement. Time and a little patience will see this tree develop into an outstanding and unique bonsai tree. Cut back hard a few weeks ago the tree has responded with an outstanding flush of new growth (some mildew evident which we have treated). A beautiful masterpiece in the making.
