Yamadori Hornbeam Bonsai Tree Material
Carpinus orientalis (Oriental/Eastern Hornbeam) is a hornbeam native to Hungary, the Balkans, Italy, Crimea, Turkey, Iran, and the Caucasus and occurs usually on hot dry sites at lower altitudes. The species resembles Korean hornbeam but is much easier to cultivate and grows considerably faster. The leaf size is very small and autumn colour is beautiful golden yellow. The tree develops some of the most beautiful delicate ramification seen on any species used for bonsai. Keep this species in full sun to encourage great autumn colour, and feed well with a balanced fertilizer throughout the growing season. Fully winter hardy in all parts of the UK. In our opinion this hornbeam is the very best of the genus to cultivate as bonsai. Graham insists it is second only to Ulmus in it's suitability to create breath taking winter image bonsai.

A stunning large twin trunk yamadori tree that has been several years in this pot. Early days but it's not going to take long for this tree to be outstanding and unusual bonsai. Already has good ramification and tiny leaves. Expensive but absolutely unique.

25" tall above it's bonsai pot. 43" wide overall. 8" diameter root flare.

Planted in a plastic nursery pot.
