Yamadori Cherry Plum Bonsai Material - Prunus Cerasifera

Cherry plum is a broadleaf deciduous tree native to south-east Europe and western Asia, but has naturalised in the UK. To the untrained eye this prunus could easily be mistaken for Blackthorn, Prunus spinosa. The most obvious difference being cerasiferas 's new growth shows red stems whereas spinosa is green. Otherwise the leaf form is about the same as are the flowers. The primary difference between cerasifera and spinosa we have noted is that the former grows at about twice the rate and does not mind root disturbance at re-potting time. Perfectly at home in the UK climate treat this prunus exactly as you would blackthorn.

Now well established, all he branches have grown since this was potted. Incredibly fast growing tree that will develop into a great little bonsai in double quick time. There is obviously some way to go but at the speed these trees grow it won't take long to turn out a very presentable bonsai tree. A simple little carving project
