Szechwan Pepper Bonsai Tree 

Zanthoxylum Piperitum.
A delightful but very rare species of Indoor Bonsai. Absolutely beautiful vibrant green foliage which is delicately scented. The bark of the tree develops a rough texture with age and is a nice warm buff colour. Tiny yellow flowers are borne in summer on current seasons growth.

The young leaves are used as a garnish in Oriental cooking.
A very robust species that is very easy to keep. Highly recommended if you haven't kept bonsai before. Appreciates a very bright spot year round and a little cool over the winter in an unheated room or conservatory. Water well in summer and try to keep evenly moist, but not wet, over winter. Summer flowering will be increased if the tree gets a good hot soak in a greenhouse for several weeks.

From a collection we obtained recently. A good condition tree that's been growing well since it's been with us.
