St Lucie Cherry Yamadori Bonsai Material
Latin name: Prunus mahaleb
Just perfect for cultivation as bonsai. Small bright green leaves, dense twigging, small white scented flowers and delicate fruit. The plant quickly develops a fine root system. New shoots break from anywhere on the trunk giving the chance to select branches for the future of the tree. Fully frost hardy in the U.K, treat just as you would a blackthorn or hawthorn. A superb subject for bonsai and simplicity itself to cultivate and develop as bonsai. Nice yellow autumn colour.
A nice chunky trunk prunus collected in Spain. Great bark quality and a good nebari. Recently styled for the first time hence the heavy wire. This variety normally only needs one structural wiring. Subsequently it's just a case of developing upward facing shoots and selective pruning. The wire can come off late summer 2020 unless it looks to marking the branches sooner. Wire marks disappear from this prunus very quickly.
17" tall from the top of it's bonsai pot. 15" wide overall. 10" diameter root flare
Planted in a plastic nursery pot.
