Silverberry Bonsai tree - Flowering Bonsai
Elaeagnus or Silverberry is a superb flowering species that makes wonderful bonsai. It has medium>small oval leaves that are often dusted with silver and also show some variegation with occasional yellow streaks. The tree has small cream heavily scented flowers that later produce orange fruits. Elaeagnus adapts to a wide variety of situations from shade to full sun and is fully winter hardy across the U.K. The species grows very fast and so develops into fine bonsai in a relatively short period of time.
This massive bonsai tree was imported over winter 2018. By far the largest bonsai of it's type we have seen. Fantastic craggy bark. Some minor easy carving work required. Regular pruning will see this bonsai develop good ramification and foilage density. The leaf form is beautiful and small and best of all, in early spring the tree was absolutely covered in flowers that were evident from a hundred feet away thanks to their intense sweet scent.
35" high above it's bonsai pot. 24" wide overall. 7" diameter nebari.
