Red Maple Bonsai - Acer palmatum 'Shaina'
The first time we have been able to offer this superb variety as bonsai. The emerging leaf colour of Shaina is a brilliant red which darkens throughout the summer before turning to scarlet in autumn. Acer palmatum is the classic Japanese maple for bonsai cultivation. Completely frost hardy, vigorous and very tough. The delightful and delicate leaves can create the most breathtaking display of colour in autumn. Keep the tree well watered in summer and fertilize regularly throughout the growing season. Protect from strong winds when in leaf. Best autumn colour is achieved if the tree is kept in full sun. Repot every 2-3 years using Kaizen Bonsai No2 Bonsai Soil Mix.
