Red Maple Bonsai - Acer palmatum 'deshojo'
Without doubt the most sought after maple variety used for bonsai cultivation. The emerging leaf colour of deshojo is simply breathtaking and will fill your garden with a brilliant red glow Acer palmatum is the classic Japanese maple for bonsai cultivation. Completely frost hardy, vigorous and very tough. The delightful and delicate leaves can create the most breathtaking display of colour in autumn. Keep the tree well watered in summer and fertilize regularly throughout the growing season. Protect from strong winds when in leaf. Best autumn colour is achieved if the tree is kept in full sun. Repot every 2-3 years using Kaizen Bonsai No2 Bonsai Soil Mix.

Early days but this Japanese import maple has all the basics in place and just needs regular considerate work to develop and improve it's structure and ramification. Beautiful trunk and good nebari.
