Pyracantha Flowering Bonsai Tree
Pyracantha coccinea native to southeastern Europe, the Himalayas and central China. Small oval semi-evergreen leaves. Small white flowers look stunning against the dark green foliage from May to June. These are followed by dense clusters of orange berries that, birds permitting will stay on the tree for most of the winter. Incredibly easy to cultivate as bonsai, pyracantha will tolerate full sun right through to shade. Very cold hardy and perfectly capable of shrugging of the very worst of winter weather. Repot infrequently during summer(3-5 years) in order to maintain flower performance. A much underrated species that should be used for bonsai much more frequently!
A powerful trunked small pyracantha, we were very lucky to find a small handful of these amazing little bonsai. There are some small areas that will require carving and the branch structure can easily be thinned and refined. Any of these trees could easily be reduced in height to make shohin sized bonsai. A superb bonsai at a very keen price!
Planted in a glazed stoneware bonsai pot.
12" tall above it's bonsai pot. 13" wide overall. 3.5" diameter nebari.
