Ficus Neriifolia Specimen Indoor Bonsai Tree
Ultra rare ficus in the UK. This has been part of Graham's own collection since he obtained it as a nub over 10 years ago. Very common in American bonsai circles but apart from a few cuttings Graham bought back once we have never seen this variety outside of the US. Cultivating ficus neriifolia is exactly the same as cultivating and other type of tropical ficus but this one has stunning willow like leaves and interesting bark.
Ficus neriifolia is a great variety of tree for indoor bonsai. It has small narrow pointed leaves and is happy living in our overly warm homes with their dry atmosphere and fairly low light levels and will look good all year round. The tree is very drought tolerant so it's unlikely to cause a problem if you forget to water for a day or two.
Ficus should be re-potted in summer, their recovery in much faster and more reliable than if the work is done in spring. Use our No2 Bonsai Soil Mix or just straight akadama. Ideally keep ficus in a very bright area such as a conservatory or greenhouse. Water well in summer but keep the soil a little dry over winter. Feed well when in growth with Bonsai Focus.
Graham has developed this tree from a nub he was gifted when visiting the USA years ago. VERY rare opportunity to buy one of the best and most sought after ficus varieties in bonsai. Don't hesitate, this won't be here long.
Planted in a Japanese unglazed stoneware bonsai pot.
