Yamadori Hornbeam Bonsai Tree Material
Carpinus orientalis (Oriental Hornbeam) is a hornbeam native from southeastern Europe to northern Iran and occurs usually on hot dry sites. The species resembles Korean hornbeam but is much easier to cultivate and grows considerably faster. The leaf size is very small and autumn colour is beautiful golden yellow. The tree develops some of the most beautiful delicate ramification seen on any species used for bonsai. Keep this species in full sun to encourage great autumn colour, and feed well with a balanced fertilizer throughout the growing season. Fully winter hardy in all parts of the UK.
