Monster Portulacaria - Elephant Bush Indoor Bonsai Tree

Portulacaria is a native succulent of Eastern Africa where it grows in dry situations as a shrub up to 5m high. Elephant Bush comes from the fact that elephants like to browse on the plants. Attractive small leaves and occasionally will bear small, star-shaped, pink flowers.
Portulacaria is the perfect plant for cultivation as indoor bonsai. It will thrive in very warm dry conditions and can even stand having it's soil dry completely for short periods of time. One thing this tree WILL NOT stand is very wet soil that is waterlogged for long periods.
Pruning is needed from time to time in summer, off cuts will root with remarkable ease.

Never allow portulacaria to get anywhere near freezing! 5 Celsius minimum winter temperature is required. Re-pot every 2-4 years IN SUMMER using our No2 Bonsai Soil Mix.

An outstanding portulacaria that Graham has grown from a cutting over several years. One of the best big portulacaria we have seen in the UK. Obviously some way to go but at the rate these grow another couple of summers will see this ready for the show bench.
