Acer palmatum is the classic Japanese maple for bonsai cultivation. Kashima is a superb small leaved dwarf form that naturally makes a beautiful broom style bonsai. Completely hardy, vigorous and very tough. The delightful and delicate leaves can create the most breathtaking display of colour in autumn. Keep the tree well watered in summer and fertilise regularly throughout the growing season. Protect from strong winds when in leaf. Best autumn colour is achieved if the tree is kept in full sun.
