Small bonsai, shohin, are normally displayed as part of a larger arrangement consisting of multiple elements like other trees, small stones, accent plants and artistically beautiful objects. Displays are often compiled to reflect the coming season or incorporate a suggestion of a particular landscape. Part of the weaving of these complex tales, a decorated pot can really lift a scene and add meaning to it when used creatively.

There are a lot of decorated pots available today but in our experience few are suitable for the subtle incorporation into a shohin display. Each pot is hand made to exacting standards, each is then hand decorated by artisans and no two pots are exactly the same. The colours are warm and subdued and blend beautifully with high quality bonsai or colourful accent plants.

To keep these pots looking amazing we recommend an application of microcrystalline wax every few months. Chestnut is a good brand widely available online that we have been using on pots for many years.
