Hibiscus syriacus sup'Heart 'Minomb'. Often called the 'rose of Sharon'. This cultivar has a stunning pure white flower with a deep red centre. The flowers are borne in profusion after mid-summer. This variety is cold hardy in the UK but will benefit from a little winter protection in colder areas. Hibiscus thrive best in full sun to partial shade. They are not fussy about soil but do best in a free-draining mix. A very undemanding tree to keep as bonsai with very attractive dense leaves and good yellow autumn colour. Hibiscus are easily cultivated as bonsai trees and can be shaped largely by pruning alone.
Early days but this very unusual tree has grown very well this summer and is now producing masses of beautiful flowers.
