The gooseberry, with scientific names Ribes uva-crispa, is a species of Ribes. It is native to Europe, the Caucasus and northern Africa. The species is also sparingly naturalized in scattered locations in North America. Gooseberry bushes produce an edible fruit and are grown on both a commercial and domestic basis. Extremely rare in bonsai cultivation, ribes is supremely easy to cultivate and develop as bonsai. Fully frost hardy in the UK and very fast growing with a nice craggy appearance even when quite young.
A nice fat craggy little goosberry that has been in it's pot for a couple of years and has flowered and fruited well this year and put on a nice display of autumn colour.
