Escallonia is just about bomb proof. It really is very tough and adapts to a wide range of situations. A native evergreen of South America the tree grows very well in most parts of the U.K especially in coastal regions. A little shelter in winter is appreciated. In summer keep very well watered and feed heavily. The tree bears soft pink flowers in summer. Escallonia does best if a little pot bound. Never re-pot unless the tree is actively growing, in the U.K we recommend June as the optimum time to complete this work. use a soil that is slightly acidic in nature such as our No1 Bonsai Soil Mix Escallonia is a calcifuge, it won't like lime in it's water or soil.

This arrived as part of a collection we bought earlier in the year.
