English Hornbeam Bonsai Material
Carpinus betulus
Native to the U.K carpinus is a principle woodland species that can make a very big and majestic tree which is exactly what this beautiful bonsai does. In bonsai cultivation the tree prefers a little protection from the sun in summer and will thrive in very light shade. Completely hardy in the U.K Hornbeam is a very simple and robust tree that is rewarding to care for and train as bonsai. Hornbeam does not need to be re-potted quite as often as other deciduous varieties. Throughout summer regularly remove large leaves and those that either hand down or grow inwards.

A big chunky & stunning hornbeam with a lot of character. Natural hollows and deadwood, an easy refinement project that will result in an impressive compact and powerful bonsai. Some basic wiring has been done in the past and formed a good start to the primary branching. Growing well and full of promise for a bright future.

21" tall above it's bonsai pot. 35" wide overall. 12" diameter nebari.
