English Elm Native Bonsai Material
Ulmus procera. Much sought after and one of the U.Ks finest deciduous species for bonsai the English elm is a great and rewarding tree to grow as bonsai. (see Colin Lewis's book The Art of Bonsai Design).

Procera is fully hardy in all parts of the U.K and grows vigorously thus allowing fast development. For young trees in the early stages of development it is best to re-pot every year into akadama. This will keep the trees vigour high. Mature trees can be left two or three years between re-potting. Autumn will see the tree put on a splendid display of yellow colour before leaf drop.

A stunning and very unusual English elm. Lots of deadwood, this tree will look stunning once the trunk is partially hollowed out. Potted for the second time last spring and now well established and growing very strongly. So far no shaping has been done other than pruning but a beautiful shape is already beginning to emerge. A unique bonsai tree even at this early stage.

23" tall above it's pot. 22" wide overall. 4" diameter nebari.
