Douglas Fir Yamadori Bonsai Material
A relative rarity in U.K bonsai but then good trees are hard to find. Native to North America douglas fir is commonly planted in commercial plantations in the U.K. In bonsai cultivation douglas fir is similar to spruce. It likes a bright position but dislikes excessive heat in summer (perfect for the U.K then!). Will withstand dry conditions but prefers to be well watered in summer. Fully frost hardy in all parts of the U.K. Very easy to shape with wire and responds well to shoot pinching. Dislikes excessive pruning so take your time in trying to compact the foliage. Re-pot when pot bound into our No1 or No2 Bonsai Soil Mix.
A superb chunky tree with nice dense branching ready for some basic styling.
21" tall above it's bonsai pot. 22" wide overall. 3" diameter nebari.
Planted in a plastic bonsai pot.
