Damson Plum Flowering Bonsai Tree
Prunus Domestica or Damson is a type of plum tree introduced to England by the Romans. Now entirely naturalised prunus can be found throughout the UK.
The tree is fully frost hardy in all parts of the U.K. It is a simple tree to cultivate as bonsai. Keep in full sun in a warm spot, water and feed very well and only re-pot every 3-5 years. A little wire can help in shaping the tree. Damson have fairly small leaves, small white flowers in April are followed by edible red plums in late summer.
Taken in PX a couple of years ago this craggy old damson has been doing well all summer. A beautiful very old tree full of character. Beautiful old branch structure that has taken decaes to produce and stunning black cracked bark. A very beautiful natural image of an old fruit tree typical of those we used to see in paddocks localy before everyone leant to hate old trees and cut them down.
22" tall above it's pot. 23" wide overall. 5" diameter nebari.
Planted in a quality unglazed bonsai pot.
