June 2002. Rescued from a landscape project during the height of summer. I retained a large root ball and dropped the whole thing into a large plastic tub. Not too sure what variety this is but as it only cost me a bottle of wine I’m not too fussed.
April 2003, bare rooted and planted into a training pot after having removed all superfluous growth and dead stuff.
In preparation for a short demo’ in Sheffield in October 04 I got to work on some of the deadwood. This took all week!
The day arrives, I’ve got the T-shirt, prepared the tree and bought along my stupid grin for good measure…Time to start work.
It’s funny how a well laid out plan seems to collapse under the watchful eyes of spectators. This all seemed like a good idea back in the workshop.
Sometimes you just have to have courage in your convictions.
I was under a power tool ban, just as well really. Sorry about the quality of the pic’.
Getting to grips with the green bit.
Where’d everybody go?
There were a dozen different possibilities with this tree. I settled on this one for now.
November 2005. A lot happened to this tree during 2005. A complete turn around to a new front and inclination along with a completely re-styled branch structure A move to a more suitable sized pot. Early autumn I fine wired the twigging and pruned hard to help compact the foliage. The live vein is maturing nicely now.
Super! I need all the inspiration possible….
