Berchemia racemosa - Supplejack.
Berchemia racemosa is a deciduous climber growing to 12m. This is the first time we have seen this species in the UK but it's common in bonsai cultivation in Japan. Requires a good moist well-drained soil mix like Akadama, keep in full sun if the soil does not dry out otherwise it is best in light shade. Plants are hardy to about -15°c. The fruit takes about one year to ripen. It is only produced in Britain after a hot summer. Beautiful ribbed lime green leaf and craggy bark. A very simple variety to cultivate as bonsai.
A superb craggy trunk with nice bark and good primary branching ready to begin building ramification.
Planted in a terracotta nursery pot.
10" tall above it's pot. 12" wide overall. 2" diameter trunk.
