Atlas Blue Cedar Bonsai Material
Cedrus Atlantica Glauca - There are several types of cedar that lend themselves to bonsai training. However finding one has never been easy. Of all the forms available Atlas blue is one of the most sought after. The foliage is incredibly compact and grows vertical shoots on top of the branches. The needles are always very small and almost blue when grown in direct sunlight. Cedar is fully hardy in the U.K. the tree is extremely drought tolerant and likes full sun and plenty of exposure. Feed regularly but sparingly and do not re-pot too often. Cedar branches are incredibly flexible which makes styling even straight material very easy indeed. If you failed with every other species of bonsai we think you will succeed with this one!
Finding anything other than small grafted starter material of blue cedar is almost impossible these days. We turned this up in a trade nursery recently. Prefect for developing into a classically styled cedar bonsai tree. Nice thick curved trunk and good branch placement for styling into a classic cedar shape with flat tops. About an hours work will see this unusual tree dramatically transformed.
