English Elm Native Bonsai Material
Ulmus procera. Much sought after and one of the U.Ks finest deciduous species for bonsai the English elm is a great and rewarding tree to grow as bonsai. (see Colin Lewis's book The Art of Bonsai Design).

Procera is fully hardy in all parts o the U.K and grows vigorously thus allowing fast development. For young trees in the early stages of development it is best to re-pot every year into akadama. This will keep the trees vigour high. Mature trees can be left two or three years between re-potting. Autumn will see the tree put on a splendid display of yellow colour before leaf drop.

A nice small hollow trunk elm that will make a very good shohin bonsai in time and with a little care.

10" tall above it's pot. 8" wide overall. 5" across the trunk base.
Planted in a plastic nursery pot.
