This massive yew was
collected, single handedly, from woodland in 1998. Its HEAVY, the base measures
28" from side to side but it's only 34" tall. All of the branches in this
picture were removed.

By 2001 the growth
had been phenomonal and work could begin. |
 |
|
Foliage thinned and tied up with raffia, let the carving
begin…

|
A whole sack of saw dust
was gathered up after this.
|
The trunk was
completely hollowed to leave a thin shell standing. You could fit two Makitas in
there! |

Winter 2002 following
wiring.

Autumn 2002. Growth over
2002 was rampant with adventitious shoots appearing everywhere. There is no wire
on the lower half of the tree in this picture. The crown has been reworked to
raise its height a little. A Bryan Albright pot is in the making, watch this
space.

May 2003 removed from it's growing box and on the way to the
workshop. |
Wedgy! |

A month later I can start to sleep easy. The Brian Albright pot
is a little on the large side. Next year I shall change it for one a fraction
narrower and somewhat shallower. Still plenty more work required but not a bad
start.
